Mum’s we know and adore.
In the spirit of Mother’s Day we have chatted to some of the wonderful Mums in the Noosa Civic community about all things motherhood.

If you could pick one gift from Noosa Civic this Mother’s Day, what would it be?
A massage or facial – for sure. Anything pampering. Lots of amazing shops to choose from. It doesn’t happen very often, so anything relaxing like that would be the best gift!
How do you best enjoy spending time as a family?
We love camping. We mainly stay local. We just have a tent, nothing fancy – that we all love. It’s so nice to get away without technology and explore, relax and just be together. We started camping when the girls were little and try and get away as much as we can.
What is your favourite memory with your Mum?
I have so many, but one of my all-time favourites is seeing my Mum’s face when she saw my first born for the first time. Nothing will ever beat that. It was so incredibly special. It made becoming a Mum for the first time even better.
What would be your perfect Mother’s Day?
A big sleep in, a home cooked breakfast (but not having to clean up!) and then some time at the beach. Plus, maybe a nanna nap in the afternoon if I’m lucky! Also catching up with my Mum and cooking her a special dinner.
What’s your favourite place in nature on the coast?
Our family loves Shelly Beach. It is amazing for exploring the rock pools. We always find something new every time. Sea Cucumbers are my girl’s favourites – we always find lots of them there. We also love going there for a picnic or just an ice cream.

How do you best enjoy spending time with your children?
I love spending time with Dusty and Celeste outdoors. During the week I like to keep it simple and not fill their cup too much as they are so busy learning and playing at daycare. During the warmer months, we love going to the beach. In autumn and winter, we absolutely love driving over to Eumundi. It’s especially beautiful in the cooler months and it feels like a little country escape, even if it is just 30 minutes from home. I love to sit on the cosy couches at Humdrum Espresso and enjoy a coffee while the kids play and share a croissant. We hit the playground after, and we always drop into the book store. I usually end up walking out with at least 3 new books for myself, Jason and the kids. We are all book obsessed!
If you could pick one gift from Noosa Civic this Mother’s Day, what would it be?
I go to Noosa Civic for my beauty treatments, so it would have to be a Gift Card from Elegant Beauty & Brows. The girls who work there are super lovely, and honestly it’s the best place in Noosa to get your brows done. My secret is out!
What do you hope your children will learn from you?
I really hope my kids learn from me my love of nature and being outdoors, my love of cooking and food, and the smiles, sweat and tears that come when working for yourself. I love it when they come into my studio at home and ask if they can help me. I want them to see, understand and learn the values of living by the beach, knowing where their food comes from, and what it takes to work hard and do what you love.
What would be your perfect Mother’s Day?
My perfect Mother’s Day would include calling my own Mother and thanking her for putting up with me, and for being such a great pillar of support. I’ll call my sister and also thank her also for being an amazing support and wish her a lovely day with her own family. I would love the kids to make me a card and enjoy a quiet breakfast in bed. I would spend the morning doing whatever I wanted, which usually involves a long hike through Noosa National Park, visiting some of my favourite book shops and interiors shops, and sitting down to enjoy a quiet coffee at one of my favourite cafes. I would come home around lunch and spend the afternoon with Jason and the kids; we’d go for a drive through the hinterland or we’d spend the afternoon at home cooking dinner over our firepit. It’s the one day of the year I actively choose to spend a portion of it on my own as every other day of the year I am either working or in mum-mode. So it’s nice to be able to head out and just be me.

How do you best enjoy spending time with your children on the coast?
I love going to the movies together and being at the ocean or river together with our dog Coby.
If you could pick one gift from Noosa Civic this Mother’s Day, what would it be?
Anything from Dusk!
What has parenting through a pandemic taught you? High’s, low?
Due to dual parenting Addi spent more time with her father and his family, the low would be not spending as much time with Addi. Highs – it made Addi more physically active, she learned to enjoy my passion for exercise.
What’s the best advice you’ve received from your Mum or a fellow mother?
You are enough.
What do you hope your children will learn from you?
To always be kind & honest.

How do you best enjoy spending time with your children on the coast?
I love spending time with my kids at home on our acreage in Lake McDonald. Riding bikes, swimming, playing on the swing, feeding the horse or sheep, daily walks with our dog Missy to spot birds, lizards, kangaroos and even the odd fox. On other days you’ll find us on the beach or at the river. We never take for granted what a beautiful place we have to call home!
If you could pick one gift from Noosa Civic this Mother’s Day, what would it be?
It would probably be a great book. I love to read and have an obsession with buying new books, whether it be fiction, non-fiction, a cookbook or something inspirational. The stack next to my bed is ever-growing.
What did you learn from your Mum?
My mum taught me to cook, laugh at myself, always believe in my abilities, to not suffer fools easily and to always show love and kindness. She’s a wonderful woman in so many ways.
What do you hope your children will learn from you?
I hope they learn all those things my Mum taught me, but mostly to always be kind to others and to themselves.
What do you do for yourself amongst the busy life of motherhood?
Me-time usually involves either my camera or hanging out with my girl friends. I’d be completely lost without both!

How do you best enjoy spending time with your children?
Both my kids are very creative. I enjoy having some “down time” with them either drawing/colouring in or painting. I sometimes give them a little theme to work on. Their ideas are incredible and I am constantly blown away!
And for something more active – a great beach day is always a happy place for all of us!
If you could pick one gift from Noosa Civic this Mother’s Day, what would it be?
I have my eye on a new pair of sunglasses from Oscar Wylee. They have such a great range at the moment. Also a massage voucher at Li’s Massage would be well received!
What do you hope your children will learn from you?
Like most parents, I want our children to take away the good values that they are raised with, in the same way that I was brought up. I hope they listen to their instincts, have resilience and to show kindness to others. And to always remember to be true to themselves through all of life’s ups and downs in this ever changing world.
What’s your favourite place in nature on the coast?
It would have to be the national park coastal walk. I try and do this 2-3 times per week. Very lucky to live in a place where this is right on our doorstep. I never tire of this, and take time to look at nature – there is always something different to see!
