OUR TOP 7 PICKS FOR NOOSA ALIVE! FESTIVAL 2019
Although we’re still recovering from the joy and extra jiggle the Noosa Food And Wine Festival brought us in May, it’s time to start planning our July diaries for the region’s next big cultural event, Noosa Alive! Festival 2019.
We love being a sponsor to this 10 day festival and we’re always excited by the magnificent shows and events to choose from. Needless to say, it was a tough gig picking out just a few highlights, so if any of these don’t quite hit the spot head over to the Noosa Alive! Website for plenty more options.
So without further ado, please put your hands together for *drumroll please*…
THE UMBILICAL BROTHERS – SPEEDMOUSE
The New York Times called them “Wildly funny, wildly creative” and The Australian described their act as “Exquisitely crafted physical humour and sheer imaginative brilliance”. An international comedy phenomenon, The Umbilical Brothers have performed in 38 countries, won a couple BAFTAs, an Emmy, the Critics’ Choice at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Helpmann Award for Best Comedy Performers. Also named as two of Entertainment Weekly’s “100 Most Creative People In Entertainment”, David Collins and Shane Dundas’ Speedmouse performance uses a mix of movement and vocal sound effects to create a frame-by-frame adventure that inspires the imagination and makes you laugh out loud. This is definitely a show you need to see live!

GANZ A CAPPELLA – HOME IS CALLING
When Patricia “Fat-Amy” Hobart shook more than just her voice box on the hilarious comedy, Pitch Perfect, A Cappella made a modern day come back and everyone remembered how very cool it is. GANZ A Cappella epitomise this cool with 6 talented vocalists (mostly Australian) based in Berlin, blending their voices and making epic harmonies on a range of classical and contemporary musical work. Recreating songs they love, “Home is calling” features GANZ A Cappella rearranging songs that remind them of home, growing up and of the songs that brought them together as a group. This is pure entertainment and quality talent that you won’t want to miss.

BEST MEDICINE – STAND-UP COMEDY HOSTED BY ANNA BRENNAN
What happens when four comedians walk into a bar with a mic? Well, you go throw a heap of laughs at them of course. It’s only the right thing to do. Anna Brennan, Carolyn Mandersloot, Jasmine Fairbairn and headliner, Christian Lutz plan to have us in fits of giggles at one of our fave local breweries, Land and Sea. And to add to the excitement we’re putting a $200 voucher door prize on to spend at any Noosa Civic outlet. Winner winner! This is guaranteed to be a fun night out and definitely one of our top picks for this year’s Noosa Alive! Festival.

SLOW FOOD WITH FILM “CHOCOLAT”
Winter is here and there’s nothing more cosy than snuggling up with an old film and good food. What more appropriate than the Johnny Depp classic, Chocolat, where we get to feast our eyes on not only him but also the delicious spread that Noosa Springs has in store for us. Our fave local Chefs Aden Moriarty from Noosa Springs, Matt Golinski from Peppers and Lisa Mahar from Makepeace Island will create three delectable courses while we sit back and enjoy the well known comic fable and a glass of bubbles on the house. Don’t forget your slippers!

SAHARA BECK – I HAVEN’T DONE A THING TODAY
We all know (and love) Sahara Beck’s first irresistible art-pop anthem “Here we go again”, and if you don’t, well then look it up. You’ll find a song that feels like an old (and eccentric) friend who you’ll want to hang out with all next week. And with a little bit of pun intended, here she goes again with her latest, already successful, single, “I haven’t done a thing today”. It’s such a treat to see this talented and captivating lady live in person and The J offers the perfect venue to feel up close and personal. So if you do happen to do one thing today, book your tickets to watch Sahara Beck at Noosa Alive! 2019.
